FINAL DRAFT

The Presidential Election has caused a never ending controversy. This topic has tons of conflicts revolving around this topic like, who to vote for, what candidate is supporting a certain topic?

Before worrying about this you must inform yourself about each candidate. Being a voter requires to have full knowledge of each candidates plans and what they support.

Hillary Clinton is one of the three leading candidates. She is the first female representative to run for elections. She is representing the Democratic side. Hillary is filled with plans if is elected as the first female president. But what are Clinton’s plans?

“When I am President, my top three priorities will be providing quality, affordable health care to all Americans, ending the war in Iraq, and strengthening the middle class.” These were powerful words that Mrs. Clinton stated on, The New York Times. Health care has been a strong point for every candidate. Clinton is really concerned since there are about 47 million Americans that are not covered with health insurance and others are close to losing the health care coverage. Her plan is based on offering high-quality care, making sure that Americans have access to health care professionals. Her plans would require everyone to get health insurance, subsidized by employers and the government; pay for it by rolling back tax cuts for households earning over $250,000 and savings in the existing system.

Her second priority is making a change progress concerning the war in Iraq. Mrs. Clinton strongly disagrees with this never ending war and that there has to be a stop to this she stated that if President Bush does not end the war, she will. Hillary is opposed to the military troops to increase and if she is elected   within 60 days of taking office, with the goal to have most troops out by the end of 2013,  Accordingly to The New York Times.

Hillary plants to create new well-paying jobs through investments in alternative energy and innovation, increase the minimum wage, and keep and create middle-class tax cuts. “I want to eliminate incentives for American companies to ship jobs and profits overseas, and I plan to invest in new industries at home to make America competitive in the global economy. I will ensure that all American children have access to quality education, starting with Pre-K and continuing until college”, this has been a main quote that has caused mayor interest among unemployed citizens.

After she deals with these three issues she also plans on dealing with debates about, immigration, environment, globalization, abortion, education and civil rights,

If elected she will not only be the first female president but according to Hillary’s main web page when she appeared on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today and announced her plan to find a cure for breast cancer within our lifetime.  Hillary’s plan would provide $300 million a year in increased funding for breast cancer research at the National Institutes of Health, the National Cancer Institute, and the Department of Defense Congressionally Directed Medical Research Program. In the White House, Hillary led efforts to make adoption easier, to expand early learning and child care, to increase funding. All these changes will not only affect the voters but Americas future citizens, our teens. She helped launch a national campaign to prevent teen pregnancy and helped create the Adoption and Safe Families Act of 1997, which moved children from foster care to adoption more quickly. Thanks in part to her efforts; the number of children who have moved out of foster care into adoption has increased dramatically. She traveled the globe speaking out against the degradation and abuse of women and standing up for the powerful idea that women’s rights are human rights.

Her last accomplishments have been that she battled the big drug companies to force them to test their drugs for children and to make sure all kids get the immunizations they need through The Vaccines for Children Program. Immunization rates dramatically improved after the program launched. And she plans to create new well-paying jobs through investments in alternative energy and innovation, increase the minimum wage, and keep and create middle-class tax cuts.

Now that the voters have been informed about one of the three presidential candidates, Hillary Clinton the voters now know who Hillary really is and what changes she can bring to this progressing country, United States.

3 Key facts of this issue include:

1. What are Hillary Clinton’s plans if she gets elected to be the president on U.S.A.?

2. Background information about her past and her accomplishments in life.

3. The changes that might occur of she gets elected and becomes the first woman to be president in USA

My Opinions on these facts are:

  1. She may be a strong leader since she has past experience being a senator.

  1. May get more votes especially from women to support her Clinton’s fans since she is his wife.

  1. I think showing some information about her background this would influence more people to sympathize and decide to vote for her.

Someone who disagrees with me on this issue would probably say:

She is not going to make it to become USAs president, just because she is a female.

I would respond by saying:

The gender of a leader does not matter. If the leader is a female they may think differently and be more open minded , they may improve USA and make better choices.

NOTES & QUOTES

—Hillary has been a steadfast advocate for middle-class families, working to help create jobs, expand children’s health care and protect Social Security from privatization. As the Senator representing New York after 9/11, Hillary has fought to strengthen our approach to homeland security and to improve our communications and intelligence operations

In the White House, Hillary led efforts to make adoption easier, to expand early learning and child care, to increase funding         for breast cancer research, and to help veterans suffering from Gulf War syndrome who had too often been ignored in the past. Thanks in part to her efforts; the number of children who have moved out of foster care into adoption has increased dramatically.

Hillary passed legislation to track the health status of our troops so that conditions like Gulf War Syndrome would no longer be misdiagnosed. She is an original sponsor of legislation that expanded health benefits to members of the National Guard and Reserves and has been a strong critic of the Administration’s handling of Iraq.

 REFLECTION

So its a new section , new theme new way of writing. I have had A&E all semesters so it was a little hard to learn the different way of reporting and writting the article. At the same time it ws easy because it was the same way to write an A&E piece than an opinion piece . I didnt have to interview nobody. Choosing a topic was not a problem since it got picked for me. Which was better since i was new at this section. I got the presidential elections. Hillary Clinton when i first got to start wriiting it was really complicated , i did not know from where to start. I went online to all types of websites, watch Hillary Clinton’s speeches on TV after a couple of days i taught i had enough memory to start writting my article but i didnt know how to start my article so i justt satrrted to insert all the data and posted it as my first draft . After Mr.weiss sayd that it was all from the internet and he was right so i went back read it again and made summaries with my own words. i like this section and i hope i can get better at it

Calle Ocho (1st Draft)

March 13, 2008 · No Comments

Once again Calle Ocho is here! The crowds’ excitement, their heart pounding, counting down the days for Calle Ocho to come. Hundreds of kiosks filled with all types of food, clothing, hats, and bracelets basically anything you can imagine. The smell of barbeque followed your nostrils everywhere. All types of multicultural food from hotdogs, to pinchos (beef sticks) to arepas. The vendors persuading you to buy drinks, “To for a dollar” they would holler. People from all over the world, using the flags ass dresses, capes, basically in any way you can imagine. In every corner there was a crowd of people representing their country. The people would walk by with the colors of their flag painted in their face, but because of the miserable heat it was smeared dripping down their face. Some people went dressed extravagant like this Puerto Rican “chick”, her hair were blue, red and white each strip of hair a different color. Her nails were the same three colors; wearing her flag as a dress rocking her Puerto Rican “chancletas” (slippers).Walking down with her head up high, showing her Puerto Rico pride.Calle Ocho 30th anniversary took place on Sunday 16, 2008. This festival is one of the most important festivals in Miami. Calle 8 opens 23 blocks to the public, and it attracts all type of age groups. From little children to elderly people since there is an activity for everyone. The 23 blocks were packed that Sunday is the most intriguing part, since you never know what to expect. Every year something else new happens. Either there is a new performer, someone else sponsors’ this festival or there is just an unexpected event. This year some music artists that performed were Kevin Little, Wyclef Jean, Shaggy, Pitbull and Flo Rida performed for thousands and thousands. The crowds going crazy for these artists trying to get up the stage, going over the limit, what a chaos! A couple broke of fights broke out during these performances, but this didn’t stop the event to keep on going. The mixture of plump, sweaty old people. The ladies wearing unflattering mid drifts over exposing. The elderly Hispanic men and women were so intoxicated, they couldn’t even walk, they were sitting down with the sweat dripping down from their wrinkly forehead.
